Three free tests · one $19 dossier
Color analysis, body type and face shape — from your answers, not your photograph
The Look Dossier works out four things about you: your color season, your body line, your face shape and your skin undertone. Each test is free and finishes in a few minutes. Putting all four together into one cross-referenced report — the dossier — costs $19, once.

Start with a free test
Each questionnaire below stands on its own. You answer it, you get your verdict for that one thing, and you get to see why: which question moved which axis, and by how much. No account, no email address, no photograph, and no charge — not at the start and not at the end.
10 questions · free
Ten questions about your hair, skin and eyes, scored on three axes — undertone, depth and clarity — to place you at one of the twelve color seasons.
8 questions · free
Eight questions about bone structure, flesh and facial features, scored across the thirteen body types.
8 questions · free
Eight questions you answer with a mirror and a tape measure. Seven shapes, decided by proportion rather than by a photograph.
None of them asks for a photo, and there is nowhere to upload one. A phone camera's white balance is the single largest source of error in color analysis, so the questions ask you to look at your own wrist, your own iris and your own hair in daylight rather than asking a JPEG to guess. The face shape test asks for a tape measure instead of a selfie for the same reason.
The Look Dossier — $19, one time
The free tests answer one question each. The dossier is what happens when the four are read against each other, using the answers you have already given.

- All four analyses in one place — color season, body line, face shape and skin undertone, cross-referenced rather than simply listed one after another: what your palette means given your body line, and which of your face's proportions changes how you should use it.
- The complete evidence table. Every question you answered, the axis it fed, the weight it carried and the direction it pushed — all of it, not the first few rows.
- Where you sit between two types, and why. Most people land near a border. The dossier names the border you are on and shows which of your own answers put you there.
- A permanent private web page at its own address, yours to keep. It is not a PDF and there is nothing to install. It improves as the guides behind it improve, so it is worth coming back to.
Delivery is immediate: as soon as the payment clears you land on your dossier, at a permanent private link, and we email that link to the address you gave at checkout so you can find it again from another device. It is the only key to the page — there is no account to log back into, which is also why we never ask you to make one. If you lose both, write to us from that same address and we can find it.
You buy it at the end of the free tests, not before: finish the three questionnaires, see your results, and the option to combine them is there if you want it. Payment is handled by Stripe on Stripe's own page, so your card details never touch this site.
One payment. There is no subscription, no membership, no credit balance and no renewal — the $19 is charged once and never again. If it turns out not to be what you wanted, the refund policy is fourteen days, no questions asked. The full breakdown of what is and is not included is on the pricing page.
What is free, and what the $19 buys
The line is between a type and you. Anything that is true of everyone who lands on Soft Summer is free and public, permanently. Anything that came out of your own answers is the dossier.

How a result is decided
By arithmetic you can check, not by a model you cannot. Each question feeds exactly one axis and moves it by a published weight, the axes decide the type, and the page shows you the sum. The same answers always produce the same result, and every result can be traced back to the answers that caused it.
There is no machine learning here, no image recognition and no language model — deliberately. What this category is worth is a verdict you can argue with, and a model that cannot show its work destroys exactly that. It also means the scoring code is part of the page you have already downloaded: the questionnaires finish with the network unplugged, because they never call anything.
When the scoring is not sure, it says so rather than rounding up to confidence. A reading is reported as high confidence only when no single answer, moved one step in either direction, would change the verdict. Most complete questionnaires come back medium — near a border — and being told which border you are on is more useful than a confident answer that is wrong.
What this is not
- Not a subscription. One charge of $19 in US dollars. Nothing recurs, and there is nothing to cancel.
- Not a physical product. Nothing is printed, shipped or mailed. The dossier is a web page.
- Not a photo service. There is no upload anywhere on this site, and no image is ever processed.
- Not a consultation. No stylist, no appointment, no video call, no back-and-forth with a person — the whole thing is a questionnaire and a scoring function.
- Not medical, dermatological or professional advice. It is guidance about clothes, color and grooming.
The twelve color seasons, in full and for free
Behind the color test sit twelve in-depth guides — one per season, each with the complete palette in hex, the colors that fight it, and six sections on how to wear it: clothing, neutrals, makeup, hair color, accessories and eyewear. They are not gated behind the test. If you already know your season, go straight to it; and if you were given a name from a sixteen-season system, the index explains where that name lands here.
